Start the New Year by learning something New! We have classes for adults and kids.

Whether you want to explore a new type of art or build on existing skills, check out these classes that begin in January.

Needle Felting with Cindy Maitri

Cyndi’s classes have been popular, so she’s going to set up one class a month for the first three months of the new year! It’s okay if you’ve already taken one of her classes, you can sign up as many times as you want to work on different 2D or 3D projects. Her classes are on January 20, February 17, and March 16.

Painting with Acrylics

Award-winning artist and popular teacher Ernie Ross can help you develop your skills with acrylic paints. There are two seats left for the Beginning Class, and Ernie will start an intermediate class right after! The intermediate class runs for six weeks and begins February 24. The Creative Club

If you have young artists between the ages of 5-12, consider joining The Creative Club at the Fine Arts Center so they can participate in free arts education classes. These Saturday morning classes run from 10:30 a.m. to around noon and cover many different types of art suitable for children.

Over the next few months, the Creative Club will be

  • January 27: Creating and using sustainable paint by turning food waste into paints! This special workshop is provide with collaboration from the Virginia Tech School of Design. Learn more and register here.

  • February 17: Get ready for Spring by adding an artistic flair to bluebird houses and flower pots. Learn more and register here.

  • March 9: Geometric Art: When straight lines meet bright colors, magic can happen! Registration information coming soon.
