In addition to practicing various techniques, participants will be led through completing one or more paintings and encouraged to experiment and ask questions. Intermediate level classes and/or painting open studios, facilitated by the instructor, will likely be available after the completion of this course.

About the instructor: Ernie is a local artist known for acrylics and watercolors on canvases, paper, and other media. He has taught acrylic and watercolor classes for nearly 20 years, including most recently at Judi’s Studio in downtown Pulaski. He has won Best in Show for the professional division at the Pulaski County Fair almost every year for the past 20 years, or so, and, as a teen, he also earned a Scholastic Gold Key award. The Scholastic Art Awards were founded in 1923 and, for nearly a century, have inspired bold ideas in creative teens throughout the country. The Fine Arts Center is the southwest Virginia affiliate for this national youth art contest.
