Together We Rise: Pulaski
Public Art Project at Jackson Park, Pulaski - May, 2023
After months of preparation, 200+ ladders, and six days of building, artists Charlie Brouwer and Barry Keller built this giant homage to home in Jackson Park in Historic Downtown Pulaski. We thank all of you who contributed ladders to the project and especially to those who helped advertise, collect, and deliver ladders over a period of several weeks.
The “last ladder” and ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on Saturday, May 6, and featured members of the Fine Arts Center’s board of directors, the Pulaski Chamber of Commerce, Pulaski County Board of Supervisors, officials from the towns of Dublin and Pulaski, and Mayor Shannon Collins from Pulaski. The sculpture will be up through the month of May, and you’re welcome to visit.

Meet Our Sculptors
Charlie Brouwer has been commissioned by the Fine Arts Center for the New River Valley to design and install his 15th temporary “Rise Together” outdoor sculpture. He began making these community installations in 2009 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and Grand Rapids, Michigan. Since that time Charlie has helped communities come together with their hopes and dreams through this interdependent, highly engaging, and very inspiring art project in cities across the country.
Barry Keller, another regional sculptor with extensive experience in creative fabrication and construction, will be working with Charlie Brouwer to sculpt “Together We Rise: Pulaski.” This will be the first time that these two artists will collaborate on such a monumental sculpture.
