Two Great Classes Coming Up: Needle Felting and Acrylic Painting
Come learn the basics of needle felting or expand upon your existing skill. Saturday, October 21 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. and then again on November 18. Ernie Ross will teach both an Introductory and Intermediate Acrylics class in early 2024.
Needle Felting with Cyndi Maitri
Cyndi will work with you at your level of expertise to create the project you desire. This class is perfect for beginners, intermediate, or advanced students. No experience necessary. Beginners will learn the basic skills of dry felting while creating a piece of framable art. Choose an image from selections provided by the instructor, or you may bring your own image if you prefer. More experienced felters can consult with Cyndi on a more complex project, work at their own pace, and receive guidance from Cyndi as they work.
You will be using locally sourced wool from well-loved pets. You will be given the necessary materials and needles to make your piece, and you are welcome to purchase your own if it's something you wish to continue off site.
Each class is a single-session class, but you are welcome to sign up for multiple sessions to work on additional projects. This class will be repeated on Saturday, November 18.
Acrylic Painting with Ernie Ross
Ernie is a local artist known for acrylics and watercolors on canvases, paper, and other media. He has taught acrylic and watercolor classes for 20 years, including at the Fine Arts Center. He has had some students for 4-5 years, starting as beginners, until the point they felt comfortable painting on their own.
Ernie will be teaching two six-week classes beginning January 6, 2024. The first class, Acrylic Painting for Beginners, is suitable for anyone who has always wanted to learn about painting but just hasn’t taken that first step. You’re in good hands with Ernie. You’ll learn the basics of mixing and applying acrylic colors and will soon be on your way to painting your first picture. Over the six weeks, Ernie will introduce additional techniques as you explore the medium.
Following the first class, Ernie will continue for an additional six weeks with an Intermediate Class. Running each Saturday from February 17 through March 23, you can explore further techniques and expand your repertoire. Attending the Beginner Class is not required, but highly recommended if you’ve never really delved into acrylics before.
