You're Invited to Contribute to Our Public Art Project: "Together We Rise: Pulaski"

The Fine Arts Center has commissioned local artists Charlie Brouwer and Barry Keller to create a giant, 3D art installation in downtown Pulaski’s Jackson Park, and you can help! We need to borrow ladders for the month of May to build this community-based sculpture.

During the entire month of May, Charlie Brouwer and his assistant, Barry Keller, will turn Jackson Park into a large-scale art project using ladders borrowed from community members. You are invited to help contribute to the project by letting us borrow a ladder—from you or from organizations that you work with or are a member of. Anyone and any organization throughout Pulaski County can contribute ladders. All ladders are tagged and inventoried and returned to their owner. Any ladders leftover from people who do not want them returned will be donated to NRV Habitat for Humanity and the Tool Lending Library.

All ladders are accepted! Whether it’s a functional ladder, one that’s broken, of any size, and even handmade ladders. You are free to decorate your ladder before you lend it, or even create a unique ladder of your own. The ladders will be joined using extra strength cable ties, creating a one-of-a-kind sculpture that we can walk around and see the lenders’ names on the ladders’ tags.

Ladders can be delivered to the Fine Arts Center during business hours beginning the week of April 17 or by making arrangements using the button above. Every donor must complete a donation form so we can acknowledge you and make sure your ladder is returned.

Between May 1-6, Charlie and another local artist, Barry Keller, will be working on the sculpture in Jackson Park. You are encouraged to stop by and watch or to drop off additional ladders at the site at that time. Ladders will be returned after Memorial Day.
