This week: Opening Reception on Thursday and a Needle-Felting Class on Saturday!
Join us at the Fine Arts Center in Pulaski for the opening reception for artist Katy Shepard on Thursday, October 24 from 5-8 p.m. or take a class with needle-felting expert Cyndi Maitri on Saturday. In our Blacksburg location, there are classes for tweens, teens, and adults. Click for details.
Katy Shepard, Ph.D., is an artist and professor philosophy from Blacksburg whose show is a colorful and mesmerizing collection of large-scale pieces that are the artist’s visual representation of recordings from individuals sharing a significant moment in their lives. She painted each work while listening to each recording on a loop. Come view this interesting collection of stories turned into art and meet the artist at the Opening Reception on Thursday, October 24, from 5-8 p.m. There will be light refreshments and a cash bar and Katy will make remarks around 7 p.m.
Needle-Felting Class
There’s still time to register for a 2D and 3D needle-felting class with Cyndi Maitri. The class is offered Saturday, October 26 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Fine Arts Center in Pulaski. Cyndi is an expert needle-felter and experienced teacher who will provide everything you need to complete your own framable creation. Blacksburg Classes
Linda Hinson is in the middle of a series of beginning art experiences that anyone can join at any time. There are two classes left: Beyond Coloring- A lesson on using colored pencil techniques and deep space on October 27 and Looking for the negative. A lesson on balancing what is there and what isn’t on November 3.
Tweens and Teens are invited to engage in a collaborative storytelling experience inspired by role-playing games. Students will engage in creative collaboration to create game features, the map, characters, and to determine how it’s governed, with the guidance of the instructor. The classes meet every Saturday in November.
