A Memorable Celebration: Recapping the Scholastic Art Awards Reception and Ceremony

Scholastic Awards - Pulaski Theatre

This past Saturday, we had the honor of celebrating the incredible talent of teen artists from across Southwest Virginia at the Scholastic Art Awards Closing Reception and Awards Ceremony. We were thrilled to see such a fantastic turnout, with students, teachers, family members, and supporters coming together to recognize the achievements of these talented artists.

The day began with the reception at noon, allowing visitors to explore the impressive collection of pieces displayed in our Edna B. Love Gallery. The variety of mediums, styles, and creative expressions showcased the dedication and hard work of these young artists, making it a truly inspiring experience for all who attended. Light snacks were available as guests mingled.

At 2:00 p.m., we gathered across the street for the awards ceremony. Local artist and Roanoke Times photographer Matt Gentry provided a heartfelt welcome and introduction, and board president John Ross commenced with announcing the award winning artists in each category. As each student's name was called, applause and cheers filled the room.

We want to extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who made this event a success. Thank you to the students for sharing your creativity with us, to the teachers for guiding and encouraging your students, and to the families for supporting their artistic journeys. A special thank you goes out to our volunteers, who worked tirelessly to ensure the event ran smoothly. Your contributions were invaluable in making this a memorable day for all.

For those who were unable to attend, we encourage you to stay connected with us for future events and exhibitions. The Fine Arts Center remains committed to supporting and celebrating the arts in our community.

Congratulations again to all of our Scholastic Art Award recipients! Keep creating, keep exploring, and keep inspiring!
