Popular local artist Ernie Ross kicks off a six-week class for those interested in learning about painting with acrylics.

This is a six-week class held on Saturdays from January 13 to February 17, 2023 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Fine Arts Center.

This class is perfect for those who want to explore painting but would like a little guidance. Ernie Ross is an award-winning artist and popular local art teacher. Ernie is known for acrylics and watercolors on canvases, paper, and other media. He has taught acrylic and watercolor classes for 20 years at the Fine Arts Center and elsewhere.

Some of the skills to be covered include:

• Mixing paint and the basics of applying it to canvas

• Guided work on a first painting, such as a sunset or landscape

• Independent work on a more advanced painting

• Techniques like shadowing

• Developing your own style
