Call for Artists - Menagerie 2024
Menagerie is one of the Fine Arts Center’s most popular exhibits as it features a variety of different types of art created by many different artists from across the New River Valley. Menagerie does not have a theme, so art of any subject or theme can be submitted to the exhibit. We look forward to inviting NRV artists to participate in this community exhibit.
Eligibility:
Open to artists aged 18+ currently living in the New River Valley Region.
Works must be original, hand-crafted, created within the past year, and ready for display.
Mass-produced kit assemblies (other than own creation) are not accepted.
Accepted art forms: oil, watercolor, fiber arts, photography, mixed media, sculpture, digital, etc.
Artwork Requirements:
All framed and other hanging artwork must be ready to hang safely with d-rings and securely with wire across the back. See here for instructions on d-ring and wire installation.
No sawtooth hangers.
Heavy pieces must have appropriate hardware installed.
Sculptures/3D work: may be placed on stands, tables, or the floor.
The Center reserves the right to make decisions regarding the pieces to be shown. If the work cannot be safely displayed, it will not be accepted into the exhibit.
No artwork removal before the exhibit closes.
Entry Details:
Entry Fee: $5 per entry for NONmembers, FREE for members.
Limit: 5 entries per person.
Payment: Cash or check in person, by check via mail, or online by 11 p.m., July 27, 2024.
Fee waivers available upon request.
Deadline:
Entry submission and payment by 11 p.m., July 27, 2024.
Submit entries online via the FAC website.
Contact the Fine Arts Center before July 20 for assistance with the online process.
Notification of acceptance by Friday, August 2.
Delivery:
Accepted entries must be delivered to the Fine Arts Center at 21 West Main Street, Pulaski, VA.
Delivery dates: August 7-10, 2024, between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Operating Hours:
Wednesday-Friday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturday: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Exhibit Dates:
Show Dates: August 16 through October 5.
Pick-Up Dates: October 9 - 12.
Reception:
Date: Thursday, August 22, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Center.
Features: Light refreshments and a cash bar serving wine and beer.
Public and artists are encouraged to attend.
Liability:
The Fine Arts Center is not liable for loss or damage.
Artists are encouraged to insure their works independently.
Submission implies agreement to all conditions and permission for publicity reproduction unless noted otherwise.
If artwork is not collected within 90 days after the show's conclusion on October 5 and the pick-up period of October 9th - 12th, it will be considered property of the Fine Arts Center, which reserves the right to sell or dispose of it at its discretion.
Prizes:
$100 People’s Choice Award, selected by exhibit viewers.
Sales and Commission:
Artists may offer artwork for sale.
Provide final retail price, including commission.
Consignment fee: 30% for members, 40% for nonmembers.
