Art & Mindfulness - Experience Quiet: Join Our Mindfulness Sessions at the Fine Arts Center

We are thrilled to announce two special mindfulness sessions in collaboration with InStill Mindfulness, held in conjunction with our current art exhibit "Quiet," presented by the Textile Artists of Virginia (TAVA). These sessions are a perfect complement to the exhibit's theme, inviting you to explore the stillness and tranquility that often elude us in our busy lives.

About the Event

"Quiet" presented by the Textile Artists of Virginia, offers a visual journey into calmness and tranquility through the medium and fiber art. To complement this exhibit’s theme of quiet, the center is hosting two mindfulness sessions guided by InStill Mindfulness teachers. This collaborative event will provide a unique opportunity to practice mindfulness in this serene and inspiring environment. First, attendees will take several minutes to view the artwork, followed by a 15-minute mindfulness session. Afterward, attendees will contemplate the work once more and note any new details they’ve noticed or a difference in how they feel viewing that artwork in a more relaxed state.

Session Details:

  • Dates: Wednesday, July 17 & 31

  • Time: 4:30-5 pm

  • Location: Fine Arts Center of the New River Valley, 21 West Main St. Pulaski, VA

Join us for these enriching sessions and experience the connection between art and mindfulness. Whether you're new to mindfulness or a seasoned practitioner, these sessions offer a chance to reconnect with your inner quiet.

How to Participate: To join, please register here. Spaces are limited, so reserve your spot today!

About Our Collaborators

InStill Mindfulness: InStill Mindfulness fosters an engaged community of mindfulness practitioners of all levels of experience who each, in their own way, contribute to cultivating a mindful world for all. InStill Mindfulness has a wide variety of programs, services, and events that contribute to this vision.

Quiet by TAVA: Noise and busyness persistently surround us. Social media, family obligations, jobs, stress, appointments; all that and more keep us constantly on the move. Finding the stillness within, the quiet spot, feeling calm, tranquility of mind, and noiselessness often elude us. Discover what Textile Artists of Virginia (TAVA) members found when they focused on the quietness that is sometimes hidden in plain view. TAVA supports and encourages each member as a fiber artist through sharing ideas and techniques, as well as exploring the boundaries of the medium with programs and hands-on activities. TAVA increases public awareness of fiber art through exhibits and public engagement.

Fine Arts Center of the New River Valley: Believing that art is important to the life of a community, the center’s purpose is to foster an enjoyment, appreciation, and understanding of all forms of art, promote art education, and to encourage and support artists. To do so, the center is commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The center seeks to be a place of belonging and to provide equitable opportunities and access to the Fine Arts for all people.
