Virginia Watercolor Society seeks volunteers for 2023 exhibition at Radford University

The Virginia Watercolor Society is seeking a chairperson and committee members for an exhibition at Radford University in February 2023.

Established in 1979, The Virginia Watercolor Society is the oldest state art association and enjoys a reputation as the state’s premier watercolor society.  They hold an annual exhibition of member work at different Virginia locations to attract visitors and members to these localities and allow local communities to access high quality VWS member art.

They will hold their 2022 Exhibition in Waynesboro at the Shenandoah Valley Art Center, on June 10, but they are already thinking ahead to their 2023 exhibition taking place in the lovely Covington Center at Radford University. They need a chairperson and approximately 15 more volunteers in or near the local area to begin work on the 2023 exhibition in the very near future.

“At this time, we are seeking one or two volunteers in the Radford and/or surrounding area to chair the organization committee for this event. It is important for our chairs to have good organizational and people skills, first and foremost. A chair and a co-chair work best, so the jobs of delegating and organizing are split. You do not need to be a VWS member or an artist to work on the committee, just an art lover who wants to be involved.  Most often, members of the exhibition committee are drawn from the surrounding community of the host region.

The committee chairperson and other members can come from the local art community to include Radford University art students and members of other local art associations such as Blacksburg Regional Art Association, Floyd Art Center, Fine Arts Center of the New River Valley, Roanoke’s Studio School, Chestnut Creek Art Center and beyond. Independent artists or hard-working, non-artist volunteers without art organization affiliations are also welcome on the team. They are looking for a treasurer, people to raise money for awards, a publicity chair, a social media chair, a hospitality chair, secretary, publicity, social media, entry coordinator and more.

People interested in attending the 2022 event or volunteering to participate in creating the 2023 Radford event should contact elainenunnally@gmail.com or karenschwartz.art@gmail.com soon.
