Meet our Instructor: Cherrilynne Scott, a Gouache and Watercolor Artist

Cherrilynne is a local artist who will be teaching a series of classes for those interested in techniques related to gouache or watercolor. Her beginning class is this Saturday, January 14. She’ll follow up with a beginner’s sketchbook class and an intermediate gouache and watercolor class later this month.

Cherrilynne is known for her pop-art style paintings of decorative domestic scenes that counterbalance mid-century aesthetics with modern feminist issues. She does this using gouache to create contrast between patterns and flat areas of color, all the while alluding to a feeling of cutting the side of a house away and looking in at its content. Gouache is a water-based medium that is similar to but more opaque than watercolor. Be sure to save your place in one of Cherrilynne’s upcoming classes:

January 14: Exploring Gouache and Watercolors

January 26: The Art of the Sketchbook and Beginners Drawing

January 28 & February 4: Advanced Watercolor and Gouache

All classes will be held at the Fine Arts Center. Tuition for each class can be paid online or in person at the Center. Materials fees can be paid directly to the instructor at the first class.
