Only Five Days Away: What Makes Saturday's Concert so Special?

A Celebration of History and Music on November 9th at 2:00 pm

We are honored to partner with the Pulaski Theatre to bring our community this concert, by Daniel Adam Maltz, which promises to deliver the compositions of Mozart, Haydn, and Beethoven in the most historically authentic way: on the Viennese Fortepiano, the beloved instrument of these renowned composers. This instrument, which will transport the audience into the European Classical Era, will be performed in the historic Pulaski Theatre (14 W. Main St., Pulaski, VA), in the heart of Pulaski’s Historic District.

About David Adam Maltz

Maltz made his Carnegie Hall (Weill) debut at age 22. He studied historical performance at the Royal Academy of Music in London and the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna. He refined his command of historical practices through private study with Andreas Staier and Ingomar Rainer.

Before switching to the fortepiano, Daniel studied privately with internationally-renowned pianists John O’Conor, Gil Sullivan, and Robert Lehrbaumer. Daniel also hosts Classical Cake, the podcast about Viennese classical music and culture.

Daniel's performances are praised for their “extraordinary precision and lightness” (The Common Reader). Critics applaud his “very sensitive phrasing” and “marvelous dynamic contrasts” (Marblehead Current) featuring “broad warmth” and “lavish but tasteful” playing (Classical Sonoma).

About the Venue: The Pulaski Theatre

The Pulaski Theatre, originally opened in 1911 as the Elks Theatre, constructed using urban Classical Revival techniques. In early years it operated as a vaudeville house for concerts and other entertainment. Railroad brought traveling productions to the Theatre. Today, the Pulaski Theatre stands as a restored piece of Pulaski history still serving the community’s need for live music, stage events and movies.
